Record audio from any source
Ever wanted to record a song from the internet but just didn't have the right tool? Audio Hijack Pro can do that for you. Even better it can record literally any sound from any application or piece of hardware connected to your Mac.
Every piece of audio you grab is saved in the recording bin list. You'll find that Audio Hijack Pro has a quick record function and also lists preset recordings for specific applications like Safari, Skype, iTunes or iChat. It's very easy to add new ones and this really automates the recording process.
You can schedule automatic recording at precise days and hours of the week for each application. Audio Hijack Pro also lets you enter metadata, although it all has to be done manually (I didn't see an import feature), which is a little tedious.
There really is a wide selection of effects to choose from, 60 in all, and you can add more. I did find the process of inserting effects a little confusing, and you really need to connect them correctly to get what you are looking for.
Audio Hijack Pro comes with some preset formats to save your audio. You can create your own but I found Audio Hijack does not let you save them for future use.
Overall though, Audio Hijack Pro lets you record and enhance sounds from any application really quickly.
Instant On has been updated to version 5.0.2, with full support for capturing audio from sandboxed applications from the Mac App Store and other sources. This update also fixes a potential conflict with Qt-based applications, including Sibelius. A regression which affected audio capture from older versions of Skype (specifically, Skype 2.x) has been corrected. The LAME MP3 recording engine has been updated to 3.98.4. A bug where Audio Hijack Pro could inadvertently create hundreds of files on long recordings has been corrected. Audio Hijack Pro's auto-split settings have been reverted to those used in 2.10.0 and before. Specifically, recordings are automatically split if they reach 2 GB in size or 24 hours in length. Many bug fixes have been applied to the hijacker.

Audio hijack did far more than i expected.
MoreI bought the Audio Hijack pr and is extremely happy with the software, i am a saxophonist and i sometimes need just a short clip of music, for example if i want to learn a Two bar phrase, i used Audio hijack to hijack just the two bars or maybe four bar phrase then i import it into my ipod touch to listen to it over and over again whilst walking down the road. I was surprised as to how many programmes one can hijack from. I would advise anyone to but it.
Pros:
hijack from video, itunes, spotify, skype, real player, safari, quicktime player, ichat
Cons:
haven't found any yet
